Color Them Pretty & On the Go!

Are you an adult who loves to color but really don't like the "kiddie" choices of books available in the stores? I have great news! Adult coloring book choices and purchases are on the rise. There are many choices to choose from when you search Amazon. I found an awesome one that has truly thought of everything. Not only is it a coloring book but it comes in a case with all kinds of goodies that is convenient for travel. No more boring long rides for me!

This wonderful creation I speak of is called LifeinColoring. This travel kit comes with not only a coloring book but also pencils, a detachable pouch, and even a pencil sharpener. It is wonderful and I love it! Curious to know about the items included. Read on....

Lets start with the case. The case has a very sturdy vinyl feel. This is great because should something get spilled on it or it get dirty in any way it will be very easy to clean up as good as new. It has a very good magnetic closure which keeps all your materials inside from pouring out during transport and on the go. The case itself is black with green lettering at the bottom which reads lifeincoloring. It is not bright or flashy so it does not stand out in the crowd and draw attention to you. This is great unless you like your binders to be blinged out "attention grabbers".

Now lets get to the goodies inside the case. The coloring book itself is approximately 16 pages or so. The pages flip to the top and not the side making it easy to get the ones you are not working out out of your way. The pages are different designs ranging from a do it yourself doodle to a pretty butterfly and cool looking owl (2 of my favorites).

The pencils are a pretty snazzy idea. Keep in mind that these pencils are for beginners and not an artist grade, yet will get the job done. Most of us will be perfectly ok with these pencils because we probably are not partial to any particular ones just yet. They are held in nicely by loops inside the case. The loops are wide enough to keep the pencils secure in place so there is no having to run them down as you get up or exit your vehicle. The bottoms of the pencils are colored so that you know what color to expect with each one. There are 12 total pencils that come with this handy dandy kit. Colors are pretty basic red, pink, orange, yellow, a light and dark green, a light and dark blue, purple, brown, tan, and black. If you want fancy colors you may want to replace these with those because yes you can do that!

Now on to the pouch and the pencil sharpener. The pouch can be used for any other materials that you would like to take along with you that has not been included in the kit. Markers, crayons, gel pens, or what ever else you might have in mind. You already have a pencil sharpener tucked away just inside the zipper pouch. The pencil sharpener is nothing fancy. It is a simple pencil sharpener like us children of the 80s used to use in school over the trash can. It does not come with the fancy canister to catch your shavings so it might be a good idea to tuck away a zip lock bag in that pouch to catch those so you don't make a mess. Should you decide there is nothing more you could need within this kit then the velcro will allow you to remove the pouch from your kit and get it out of your way or use it some where else that you do have a need for it.

More great news about this kit is that when you have completed the coloring book that is in it you can easily replace it. You can replace it with another top loading book or you can even use it for the common side flipping paged books. Another awesome feature is that this book is great for left or right handed folks. All you have to do to switch is flip the book from top to bottom. Keep in mind however if you flip it your letters in green at the bottom will be upside down at the top. This is not a problem unless you have to have your cover just so-so.

I love this kit. The quality seems to be very good. I expect this to last a good deal of time. I love my coloring time to just relax and unwind from the day but it is also my way of expressing my views on coloring my own little world. It is a great retreat for those creative folks who enjoy doing things "their own way". It is your book, your picture, and you are the artist bringing it to life! Enjoy yourself and grab a lifeincoloring kit.

Bad Day Picker Upper

I love to write and I love to read those pick me up and help me learn to stay there type books. When I saw the Instant Happy Journal by Karen Salmansohn I just had to see what it was all about. Besides a journal that will inspire me to write who could refuse that adorably cute polka dot cover?

This is a very cute book. I love the built in yellow book mark that allows me to easily find where I need to be for my next entry. The book is small in size but thick with plenty of pages. It promises to have 365 days of happy things that will prompt you to write and reflect on the happy moments. The pages are not numbered and no I have not taken the dedication to count them for verification that there are 365 but I trust that they are honest. You can write first thing in the morning to start your day off on a happy note or in the evening to pick you up after a tough day. I go with the latter, I can always use a nice pick me up and a reminder after a long day to reflect on the positive from that day.

The pages in the journal are simple yet pretty. There are different colors all through the journal. There are reds, blues ,oranges ,purples, greens, and pinks. As the colors change in the book so does each of the page designs, there are dots, lines, borders and the such. Each page has a spot for the date and then the lines where you are free to write what ever your heart desires. On the very front page there is the "this journal belongs to" page where you can write in your name.

Now to my tiny gripe and honestly the only one that I have. The small book is nice UNTIL I get ready to write. I like to write and once I start it is hard to stop. The prompt gets me writing and then I have to cut my thoughts short to fit it on the page. The only other gripe I have is not the book it is my horrible hand writing. This book is so cute and then it has my messy scribble. That is not at all a fault of the book though, that is my own for not learning how to write better as a kid!

If you enjoy writing and would like a small smile at least for a few minutes of your day then this book is for you. If you think writing is more horrible than a horse shot in the hip then this is probably not going to be your choice of entertainment. Good penmanship is a plus but as you can see from above it is not required!

All this being said I have been writing in the journal for a bit now. I think the pages will be great to reflect back on later and take a trip down a happy memory lane. Am I always happier, by no means no, today has been a horrible day. So horrible I wonder if I can find the happy to write about in my journal. I need to share some words of wisdom a friend told me today or recently that inspired me. Right now the only thing I can think of is let your thoughts process before you open your mouth because today sure has been a spout out what you think kind of day. So with my day fellow readers please wish me luck and you might want to say a little prayer for me for patience.

Showering Your Cares Away..A Review of DreamSpa® All-Chrome Water Temperature Color-Changing LED Shower Head

I am a bit picky when it comes to my shower head. I don't want just any old shower head. I have always been attracted to the ones with all the neat settings such as rainfall, massage, etc. I never imagined I would find a shower head that not only has 5 near perfect settings (Power Rain, Pulsating Massage, Hydro-Mist, Economy Rain & Water-Saving Pause) but that also has neat LED lights of blue, green, and red to tell me when my water is ready for me to get in! No more mornings of being half asleep and walking into a cold shower to get the shock of my life...no NEVER again!

The lights start out glowing blue to let you know that the water is cold, below 95F. When the water reaches 95-108F the light will change to green so that you know it is now warm. At 109-122F you will find the LED lights are now red telling you that the water is hot. Should you see a flashing red light this is a warning meaning the temperature of the water is over 122F and may be too hot. Just as a side note I have never seen the flashing red and usually shower with the LED lights in the red. If you heavily use your shower and worry about how long these LED lights might hold up, they have a long life of 100,000 hours (over 10 years of heavy daily use).

This shower head is super easy to install and does not require any special tools, in fact you do not need any tools at all. The instruction paper tells you every simple step you might need to know. My husband had it ready to use in just a few minutes. My husband had to install it for me, not because it was difficult to do but because I am graced with growing to low to the floor and can not really reach high enough to change it on my own. This being said if you are graced with legs that are long even a lady can install this!

The quality of the shower head also seems to be good. It is not made of flimsy material that is going to fall apart long before your LED lights burn out. My family has been using mine daily and it is holding up wonderfully. The jets are better than the last shower head that I had. They have a satisfactory level of pressure with the settings that this shower head comes with. As another added benefit you do not have to worry about changing any batteries with this product because everything is operated by water!

I am very glad to own this shower head. I love the LED lights not only because they are a nice addition to my shower but also because they tell me when my water is ready. The settings allow me to switch to a softer water flow when I am in the mood for a relaxing mist or a powerful flow when I am wanting a good shower that relaxes my tense muscles. My whole family loves this product from myself, to my son, but more  surprising even my husband. If you are in the market for a new shower head I would highly recommend this product. It would be excellent for parents with small children to help with the fear of a child getting in to water that is too hot. It is excellent for those who want to relax in comfort in their shower without any cold or hot water shocks. It is just all around a great product for anyone.

Born to be Awkward Book Review

Have you ever noticed the "awkward" photos on Facebook of the babies? If so did you take the time to click through and look at them? I bet they made you laugh. Some probably made you laugh really hard! Did you know that those photos now have a place in a book called Born to be Awkward by Mike Bender and Doug Chernack? I was lucky enough to have a chance to review this book courtesy of Blogging for Books.

The first 5 chapters of the book is filled with hilarious photos of babies that are destined to make you laugh. This breaks down to 137 pages full of photos to make you smile and chuckle. Can you think of a better way to spend your evenings, especially if you have had a bad day. The book has some photos with a small story about the picture you are looking at called Behind the Awkwardness and then there is the Re-Creating the Awkwardness where you will see a baby picture and then a re-creation of that picture of the adult. These will really cause an outburst of laughter.

This book also has a 6th chapter where you can place your own photos of your children's awkward moments. There are 9 pages where you can put photos. Some of these pages have spots for more than just the one picture.

I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. It is really fun to read through and look at the pictures. Since it is mostly designed with photos and there is not a lot of reading it is fairly easy to complete the book. It is not one of those that will take forever to finish, in fact it is so funny it will probably not take you long at all. I would be very hard pressed if I had to pick a favorite out of the book. I would find one that I was sure was my favorite and then in a couple pages I would find one to rival the other for favorite spot.

If you like a good laugh I suggest reading Born to be Awkward. If you are as hooked as I am you do not have to stop reading and laughing there. There are 3 more books in the Awkward series that I know of. Awkward Family Photos, Awkward Family Pet Photos, and Awkward Family Holiday Photos. I would really like to check the rest of these books out but especially the Holiday Photos one.

As previously stated I did receive a copy of this book for my review from Blogging for Books. The opinions here are 100% honest and my own.
